Selection criteria

Choose ACXplus by surface and load

The viscoelastic acrylic construction can compensate for mechanical and thermal stresses between different materials. Start with the surfaces of both parts, their expansion, the direction of force and the conditions in use. The grey or white 704x family is described, among other uses, for decorative elements; the transparent 705x family for glass and acrylic glass. The black 706x and 707x families address different needs involving difficult-to-bond surfaces and demanding outdoor applications. Check the individual product data sheet.

ACXplus SELECTION GUIDE

From tape family to a suitable bond

High adhesive strength alone does not determine suitability. The acrylic core must match the surfaces and geometry; when joining different materials, compensation for expansion and stress matters. tesa describes 704x for discreet grey or white bonds, 705x for transparent materials, 706x for difficult-to-bond surfaces and 707x for more demanding outdoor conditions. This overview does not replace an assessment of the individual product and the actual loads and environment. For a wider choice of tape constructions across brands, visit the double-sided tape specialist shop.

Krückemeyer GmbH can cut suitable tapes to the required roll dimensions or supply die-cut parts matched to the component geometry. Tell us about both parts, the available bonding area, the loads, the environment and the desired supply format. That allows material selection and processing to be assessed together.

QUESTIONS ABOUT ACXplus SELECTION

How does tesa® ACXplus differ from a thin transfer film?

tesa® ACXplus refers here to double-sided tapes with a solid or foamed acrylic core. Depending on the variant, this construction can compensate for mechanical and thermal stresses between parts and conform to uneven surfaces. A carrierless transfer film has a different construction, so adhesive strength alone is not a sound basis for treating it as equivalent to ACXplus. Consider the two surfaces, any gap, component geometry and load together. The data sheet for the specific variant remains the basis for selection.

Which ACXplus variant suits glass or transparent parts?

tesa describes the highly transparent 705x family for transparent or translucent parts, including glass and acrylic glass. Where the bond remains visible, tape colour, thickness, edge appearance and careful application without distracting air bubbles matter alongside adhesion. The grey or white 704x family is described for visually discreet decorative bonds on other surfaces. The optical and mechanical result must be checked on the actual parts before choosing a variant.

How does the viscoelastic core help when bonding different materials?

The viscoelastic acrylic construction can relieve stresses caused by loads or different thermal expansion of the joined parts. This is an important selection factor in a structural bond between different materials. It does not provide a general load-capacity guarantee: bonding area, direction of force, temperature profile, surface and duration of loading govern the design. Provide these conditions in your enquiry so that the ACXplus family and specific variant can be assessed.

What information does Krückemeyer need for cut-to-size ACXplus tape?

Tell us which tape or application you want assessed, the two parts and surfaces, the bonding area, and the loads and environment. For converting, add the required width, length or die-cut shape and the intended application process. Krückemeyer GmbH can cut suitable tapes and produce die-cut parts. The useful and feasible dimensions, shape and supply format depend on the material and how it will be used on the component.
